Vital system tricks that every windows 8.1 users should know
Change is something that is hard to be accepted by anyone. At times the changes are good and has to be accepted. The age of windows 7 is coming to an end with the dawn of windows 8 in 2015. Microsoft has plans to migrate their users to the new Operating System.
It is assumed that Windows 8-1 comes with excellent features and here are a few tips for you to feel free when you get your hands on it.
Sign-in screen
If you have no issues if another person access your computer, then you can bypass the sign-in screen.
Process
By clicking the lower right hand corner or by clicking on windows+C buttons together the charms menu can be opened. Select Search features, and then type netplwiz, and select the first result which pops up. Choose the account in which you want access to sign in automatically in the pop-up window and then uncheck the option “User must enter username and password to use this computer”, click OK. If you have already had a password, make sure to enter it while making the changes.
By doing so, the next time while entering the windows it will take you straight away to the start screen.
Start button
The start button is similar to start button in windows 7. Clicking on the start button will take you back to the start menu or your previously used app.
Process
Doing a right click will display a menu to access the control panel, task manager and other short cuts.
Desktop mode – boot up
“Metro” user interface layout of apps will be the first thing that everyone notices in Windows 8.1 .One could return back to Windows 7 desktop by simply clicking onto the desktop tile. PC or Tablet could be automatically set up to boot to the desktop instead of going to the start screen.
Process
Select desktop-taskbar→select properties →click on Navigation Tab (click on the check box “When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of start”.
Customized start menu
App titles on the Start screen can be resized and organized .
Process
To unpin from start menu: right-click on a tile (click on the option that says unpin from start menu or uninstall.
To resize: choose the option to resize your tile small, medium, wide or large.
Make your group: just drag drop different apps in a particular place and by just right clicking on top of the screen one could just rename it.
Disabling hot corners
For quick access windows 8.1 uses “hot corners” and “Charms ” menu.
Process
When you bring your mouse to the top left corner of the screen, it will display all the apps that you have opened.
By bringing your cursor to the top right corner will open up your charms menu, that provides access to the search menu, Settings etc.,.
Or if you find this tedious then you could just right-click the desktop→choose Properties→open Navigation tab→under Corner Navigation heading→disable top left and top right corners.
View all your apps
Complete list of installed programs can be viewed by clicking down the lower-hand side fo start menu. By clicking on the top arrow will take you back to the start menu.
Changing default apps
Not everyone prefers IE, so Windows 8.1 allows to to set our default apps lie email client, video player, calendar and much more.
Process
Go to Charms menu→click on settings→select PC options→click Search &Apps→select default.
Universal wallpaper
The start screen and desktop have different wallpaper which will let you change the look, color and wallpaper of the start screen. This will let you see your current desktop as a final option in the select box and it can be used as a universal wallpaper.
Process
Start screen→Charms menu→click on settings→select Personalize.
System image creation
If you are in need of a backup of the work you have done on the system where you could restore all of the old data in case your computer crashes or if it stops working.
Process
Desktop control panel→select System and security →File History→at the bottom you would find a system Image Backup option.
Hot Bonu
Never forget about updates. Be updated with the special offers issued by Microsoft, which includes bug fixes and new features of windows.
Process
